The study, led by researchers from Stony Brook University, is actually a re-analysis of data released last year by scientists from Johns Hopkins, which found that about two-thirds of the variation in the risk of developing cancer is due to mutations of cells at random unknown why, or arguably subject to fate.

This latest study found many things that are opposite.

"Cancer occurs due to fate. We are sure that it is not true and we are very confident with the data we have, "says senior author Joseph Hannun, MD.

Although there is still much research needed to reach a final conclusion, it should be noted that not all extrinsic risk factors are easy to control.

"Everyone certainly knows about the relationship of smoking with the risk of cancer, so the expectation is You don't smoke or quit smoking," said Hannun.

Hannun also recommends for maintaining weight, limiting alcohol consumption of moderate amounts of healthy food, eating, and using sunscreen. The best thing to do to distance yourself from the cancer.
